Christopher J. Epps is a Soil Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), where he is committed to helping people help the land through conservation, stewardship, and sustainable resource management.

A dedicated leader and advocate, Christopher served as Student Body President of Alcorn State University Student Government Association during the 2022-2023 academic year. He is also a proud Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc..

 

Christopher maintains active membership in several professional organizations, including the National Organization of Professional Black Natural Resources and Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences.

Throughout his academic and professional career, Christopher has earned numerous honors and distinctions, including:

• USDA/1890 National Scholar

• HBCU Kings & Queens "Student Government President of the Year"

• City of Port Gibson, Mississippi "Outstanding Citizen Award"

• HBCU Pulse "Best SGA Administration of the Year"

 

Prior to joining NRCS, Christopher gained valuable experience as a Lobbyist Intern with The Octagon Group and worked within the Office of Foundations at Alcorn State University. He also interned in the Washington, D.C. office of Bennie Thompson, where he contributed to policy initiatives associated with the 2023 Farm Bill Task Force.

 

Currently, Christopher serves as a Commission Member for the Coastal African American Historic Preservation Commission in the City of Brunswick and as an NRCS Earth Team Leader for Area 4 in Georgia.

 

A native of Port Gibson, Christopher earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant and Soil Science from Alcorn State University and is currently pursuing a degree in Public Policy and Administration at Mississippi State University.
